Share what you know, safely.
Cachecrime investigates claims about Africa: footage, imagery and documents traced back to their true time and place. If you have something that deserves scrutiny, here is how to reach us without putting yourself at risk.
Before you contact us, protect yourself first.
- Use a personal device, not a work or organisation computer or phone. Employers can monitor those.
- Avoid your work or home network if the information is sensitive; consider the Tor Browser.
- Plain email and SMS are not anonymous. They reveal who you are. Use the encrypted options below for anything sensitive.
- Don't tell colleagues you've contacted us. The fewer people who know, the safer you are.
01 Secure channels

02 What makes a strong tip
- Evidence beats assertion. Documents, photos, videos, screenshots, links, dates and locations are far more useful than a claim on its own.
- Context. Tell us what the material is, where it came from, and why it matters.
- Originals where possible. Unedited files carry metadata that helps us verify time and place.
- How to reach you back (if you're comfortable): and how you'd like to be credited, or kept anonymous.
03 Our commitment
We protect our sources. We verify before we publish, and every finding we release carries its verification trail. We will never publish something that identifies you as a source without your consent. If we can't verify a tip, we won't run it, and we'll tell you why if you've asked us to.
